Biography
Ph.D., is an associate professor of Political Science and International Relations, and has been the Director of the Centre for Europe (CE) at the University of Warsaw since 2020. In addition to being a member of the University of Warsaw Senate for the 2024–2028 term (the University’s most important governing body), Professor Zajączkowski is a member of the team of experts for the Polish Parliament’s Chairwoman of the Sejm Committee for the European Union for the 2024–27 term. His research interests focus on the following: EU foreign and defence policy; the role and position of the EU in the world; contemporary international relations; and Africa in international relations. The author of several dozen (around 100) scientific publications on these topics, Professor Zajączkowski is also the co-editor of six books. A recently published paper of his is The war in Ukraine and the (Non-)Development of the EU Common Security and Defence Policy (Rocznik Instytutu Europy Środkowo-Wschodniej 22 (2024), no. 2, https://ies.lublin.pl/rocznik/riesw/2024/2/1/). He has participated in numerous international research projects (including as the manager of the five projects under grants from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland), and has given lectures at over 20 European and Asian universities, including those in Paris, Istanbul, Indonesia, and China. He is a member of several scientific councils of foreign journals including the “On-line Journal Modeling the New Europe” journal, in addition to being a regular commentator on international affairs on the radio and television.
