Privacy Policy

General Provisions
This Privacy Policy applies to the personal data of users of the “Studia Europejskie – Studies in European Affairs” journal’s website operating at the address http://journalse.com, hereinafter referred to as the “Website”.
The Controller of personal data is the University of Warsaw, hereinafter referred to as the “Controller”.
The processing of personal data will be conducted pursuant to the applicable provisions of Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27th April 2016 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data and repealing Directive 95/46/EC, hereinafter referred to as “GDPR”.

Purpose, scope, and time-frame for the processing of personal data.

  • The personal data of the Website’s users will be processed to the extent and for the purpose necessary for the efficient functioning of electronic scientific journals, in particular for the purpose of:
    efficient communication in the editorial process;
    content editing;
    creating internal reports and analyses (including statistics on the viewership of subpages, the readership of publications);
    sending, with user consent, notifications and information regarding the journal;
    informing readers about the authors of texts published on the Platform;
    indexing published texts and data in databases, catalogues and websites, pursuant to the journal’s publishing policy.

    The users registered on the Website may provide the Controller with the following data:

  • First name,
  • Middle name,
  • Surname,
  • Login,
  • Gender,
  • Password (encrypted),
  • Email,
  • ORCID ID,
  • WWW website,
  • Country,
  • Telephone,
  • Fax,
  • Affiliation,
  • Biography,
  • Registration date,
  • Last login date,
  • Location,
  • Research interests,
  • Function (role) on the Website.

    In the event of launching sales of electronic publications on the Website, persons interested in using the service may provide the Controller with additional data regarding the selection of the payment channel and bank account number.
    Providing personal data is:
    voluntary when using the content of open-access journals deposited on the platform;
    necessary if you want to take part in the electronic publishing process, including:
    depositing texts for publications with the observance of authors’ rights;
    performing work related to the functions of: editor, department editor, technical editor, reviewer, DTP specialist, indexer, proof-reader, journal manager, subscription manager, marketing manager;
    setting up an account on the reader’s rights in order to obtain information from the publishing house and editorial office about recently published issues and articles.
    Personal data of the electronic editorial process participants, including authors of publications, editors, reviewers, pursuant to Art. 89 of the GDPR will be processed for scientific and statistical purposes throughout the entire period of providing access to the electronic versions of the journal. The scientific purpose is the archiving of articles and metadata, as well as sharing, indexing and forwarding them for indexing in scientific databases, catalogues, and websites.
    The personal data of potential authors whose texts have not been accepted for publication may be deleted by the Controller 2 years following the editor’s decision not to publish them.
    The personal data of users with readers’ rights may be deleted by the Controller at any time at the user’s request.

    User rights
    Each User registered on the Platform has the rights stipulated in Art. 15-21 of the GDPR, which may be used subject to the conditions set out in the forgoing provisions:

  • The right to access data,
  • The right to rectify data,
  • The right to be forgotten,
  • The right to the restriction of processing,
  • The right to data portability,
  • The right to object

Users have the right to edit their accounts and change any previously provided data, with the exception of the system login. From the application level, they may – at any time – withdraw their consent to receive information from the publishing house and editorial office of journals located on the Platform.
The use of the rights set out in point III.1 takes place following a prior notification sent to the Controller by e-mail to the following e-mail address: CONTROLLER’S EMAIL

Controller’s rights

The Controller reserves the right to process Users’ data after consent has been withdrawn solely for the purpose of pursuing any court claims or if national, EU or international regulations oblige them to retain data.
The Controller has the right to share User data and other data with authorised entities, on the basis of applicable law.
The Controller may use the services of other processors, based on the written consent given to them and the conditions stipulated in Art. 28 GDPR.

Data may be transferred to:
processors in connection with the Platform’s administration and technical support service;
publishers of analytical systems Google Analytics, AddThis;
publishers of databases and indexing catalogues:

  • Crossref Metadata Search,
  • Directory of Open Access Journals,
  • EBSCO,
  • Electronic Journal Library,
  • ERIH PLUS,

  • Sherpa-Romeo,
  • Social Science Open Access Repository,
  • PBN – Polska Bibliografia Naukowa.

    – entities or bodies authorises by the provisions of law.

Securing personal data

The Platform is encrypted using the SSL (Secure Socket Layer) protocol. The entered user passwords are encrypted.

Cookies

The platform uses cookies that are used to identify the visitors’ browser. Thanks to the collected information, the Collector is able to obtain knowledge regarding the frequency of visits to the Platform and to identify its most interesting elements. The obtained data will allow the Controller to adapt the Platform to the users’ needs, to improve its functioning, and for statistical purposes. These files cannot be used to infect your device with viruses or other malware.
