Biography
Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor (Adjunct) at the Institute of Earth Sciences, at the University of Silesia in Katowice, Poland, and a fellow of Yale University’s Global Justice Program in New Haven, USA. He received his MSc. and Ph.D. in Earth science in the field of geography, and a PGCert in Global Development. Michal’s unique background allows him to integrate knowledge from the perspectives of various points of view into his research and consultancy work. He is an author and/or co-author of over 50 journal articles and three monographs: Mountaineering Tourism: A Critical Perspective (2021, Routledge, with Y. Wengel), Mountaineering Adventure Tourism and Local Communities: Social, Environmental and Economic Interactions (2022, Edward Elgar, with V. Andreychouk), and Environmental Impacts of Mountaineering: A Conceptual Framework (2021, Springer), and three edited books: Poverty and Development: Problems and Prospects (2022, Channel View Publications, with P. Moolio), Nature-Based Tourism in Asia’s Mountainous Protected Areas: A Trans-Regional Review of Peaks and Parks (2021, Springer, with T. Jones, H. Bui) and Poland and Ukraine: Problems and Prospects (2019, Wyd. Naukowe UP, z M. Krupska-Klimczak).
