Anatomia myśli eurosceptycznej na przykładzie Naszego Dziennika

The anatomy of Euro-sceptical thought using the example of “Nasz Dziennik” daily paper

Abstract

The article analyses attitudes of national-catholic circles gathered around “Nasz Dziennik” newspaper towards Poland’s integration with the European Union structures. Representatives of this cultural and intellectual group argue that the process of political consolidation is actually going to cause a loss of national identity, moral crisis and fall of traditional habits, loss of political independence and a plague of all sorts of legal and economic problems. In their philosophy of negation of the EU phenomenon the radical rightist circles mainly focus upon moral aspects, regarding economic factors as secondary. It seems that fear of decadence of traditional values prompts them to deny and condemn any symptom
of international integration. In spite of being quite bizarre, this anxiety reflects obsessions of many conservative and traditionally-inclined Poles.
