Impact of the EU enlargement upon economic safety of Central European countries – the aspect of energy
Abstract
Energy security constitutes an important element of economic security, especially in countries without sufficient sources of cheap and ecological energy. The article discusses the notions of economic security and energy security. The importance of gas and oil for energy security in Central European countries and threats to their energy security are demonstrated, as well as implications for the European Union. The article deals with the topic of influence of European Union’s enlargement for energy security of Central European countries. It aims at evaluation of energy security level in the region and presents prospects for the future. Several maps, graphs and tables are contained.
