Europeizacja polskiej polityki zagranicznej

Europeisation of Polish foreign policy

Abstract

The article assesses applicability of the concept of Europeisation in foreign policy with particular reference to Polish case study, in terms of adaptation of Polish administrative structures and elites to the European Union and the ability to promote Polish national interests within the EU. This approach is applied in order to explain the process and mechanisms of bidirectional influences. Polish preferences for more coherent EU policy with respect to Ukraine and Belarus highlight Poland’s national interest in having its concerns integrated into the European Neighbourhood Policy (ENP). The key argument of this article is that even though Poland has already recognised some of the mechanisms and paths of influence, not all lessons were learnt and there is still room for improvement, especially when looking at the consensus and coalition building and at the ability to promote national interest in informal ways.
