Zelal Başak Yariş

Biography

Ph.D. – is an associate professor at the Department of Political Science and International Relations at Mardin Artuklu University in Turkey and was the coordinator of the Jean Module on European Governance and Policy Making between 2015–2018. Dr Yariş completed her doctoral studies with her dissertation on the Europeanisation of minority rights in Turkey at the University of Cologne in 2012. She carried out her post-doctoral studies at Lund University in Sweden in 2015 and worked as a visiting researcher in the Middle East Centre at the London School of Economics in 2016. She received her undergraduate degree in international relations from the Middle East Technical University in Turkey and her master’s degree in European studies from Hamburg University in Germany. Her research interests are human-rights policy of the EU, Europeanisation, democratic transition, minority protection policies of the EU, Turkey/EU relations, and external relations of the EU.
