Stefan Lundqvist

Biography

Ph.D., Dr. Lundqvist is a Director of Studies (advanced level) in the Department of Military Studies of the Swedish Defence University (SEDU), where he has served as a military lecturer since 2010. He is an active duty officer (Commandor) who holds a Ph.D. in political science from Åbo Akademi University, Finland. Until this marked turn towards academia, Dr. Lundqvist served in sea-and-shorebased staff positions at tactical and operational levels of command. His areas of expertise include International Relations, strategy, military theory, maritime security, operational planning, and operations assessment. He is a sought-after expert on maritime security and strategy. Stefan Lundqvist is a member of SEDU’s Research and Education Board, chairing its Syllabus Committee while serving on the Committee on War Studies. His research has appeared in books and journals including Defence Studies and the RUSI Journal. His current research focus is on security in the Arctic and Baltic Sea regions.
