Özgün Erler Bayır

Biography

Ph.D. is a professor of International Relations and a faculty member in the Department of Political Science and International Relations at Istanbul University, Faculty of Political Sciences. Her academic expertise spans European studies, foreign policy analysis, diplomacy, digital diplomacy, space studies in the social sciences, disinformation, and Eastern European politics. Dr. Bayır completed her Ph.D. thesis, titled Dilemma between Atlanticism and Europeanisation in Poland’s Foreign Policy (2011), and completed the Jean Monnet Module at Istanbul University on Future of the EU: Security, Economy, and Transatlantic Relationship – FUTUREU (2020–2023). Dr. Bayır currently serves as the Coordinator of the Erasmus+ KA220-HED project, Digital Diplomacy: Building the Common Future with Technology (2022–2025). In addition to her work on digital diplomacy, she is the Project Coordinator for Youth Vision for the Future of Turkey-NATO Relations (2022), a project supported by NATO’s Public Diplomacy Division, and the Project Lead for Learn to Unite: Simulation-based Learning to Unite Against NATO’s Emerging Challenges (2023), also funded by NATO. Dr. Bayır is the Project Manager for the TÜBİTAK 3005 Research Project Reconciling Social Sciences and Space: Shaping the Future with an Interdisciplinary Perspective on the New Space Ecosystem (2022–2024). Currently, she is leading a Jean Monnet Module on COPFUTUREU: Challenges and Opportunities for the Future of Europe (2023–2026).
