Mehmedin Tahirović

Biography

Ph.D., is a retired colonel of the Armed Forces of Montenegro and a professor of Humanistic Studies at the University of Donja Gorica in Podgorica. He previously served as Montenegro’s National Military Representative to SHAPE (Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe) at NATO Headquarters in Mons, Belgium. He graduated from the Military Academy of the Ground Forces in Belgrade and later earned a master’s degree in law from the Faculty of Law in Podgorica, followed by a doctorate from the Faculty of Philosophy at the University of Mostar. His academic and professional interests focus on security, defence policy, crisis management, regional security, and Euro-Atlantic integration. Throughout his career, he has held teaching, research, and leadership positions at military, police, and higher-education institutions in Montenegro and Serbia. He served as a member of the Government of Montenegro’s NATO Communication Team from 2008 to 2017 and was the author of the Communication Strategy on Montenegro’s Euro-Atlantic Integration. He has published three books and numerous scholarly articles in the fields of defence and security studies. He is also the founder and President of the Marshall Center Alumni Association of Montenegro.
