Krzysztof Jasiecki

Biography

Ph.D., is a full professor of sociology at the Centre for Europe (CE) of the University of Warsaw. His main research interests are: economic sociology; institutions of capitalism; economic and political elites; pressure groups and lobbying; European integration; as well asthe political, economic, and social dimensions of globalisation, with a particular emphasis on Central and Eastern Europe. He is a visiting professor at different European universities, and a participant of various research projects as well as a lecturer in the fields of globalisation and the development crisis in Europe, and also on the varieties of contemporary capitalism in Europe. His most recent articles and chapters focus on the deinstitutionalisation of public policies, the war in Ukraine, and 2023’s migration challenges in Poland, and he has additionally published the title Central and Eastern Europe, 30 Years of Capitalism 1989–2019. Variations of Market Economy Comparative Study 16 Countries of the Region (2020). He has also published several books on interest groups and lobbying in both Poland and the EU (between the years 2003–2005, he was an expert for the Polish parliamentary committee for the law on lobbying). His professor’s book concerned the specifics of new Polish capitalism in the EU, and had previously published a monograph on the new business elite in Poland.
