Jarosław Pietras

Biography

Ph.D., obtained his doctoral degree from the Faculty of Economics at the University of Warsaw and is the author of numerous publications on the European Union and international trade. He is currently a visiting professor at the College of Europe in Bruges. Previously, he served as Director-General of the Council of the European Union, where he was responsible for, among other areas, climate change and environmental policy. Between 1990 and 2006, he held various positions in the Polish government, including Secretary of State for Europe and Head of the Office of the Committee for European Integration (Poland). He also participated in successive Conferences of the Parties (COP) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) between 2008 and 2020, including COP21, which adopted the Paris Agreement.
