Biography

Ph.D. – holds a doctoral degree in legal sciences, is an associate professor at the University of Wrocław, and is also a research and didactic employee of the Faculty of Law, Administration, and Economics of the University of Wrocław. She specialises in financial market law, in particular financial services law with an emphasis on client (especially consumer) protection, as well as public financial market law, with a focus on financial market supervision and the market practices of financial institutions. In addition to being the author of numerous publications (more than 140) on the indicated research issues (https://prawo.uni.wroc.pl/user/12159), professor Rutkowska-Tomaszewska is: an arbitrator at the Court of Arbitration at the Financial Supervision Authority; a member of the Scientific Advisory Committee to the Financial Ombudsman (2016–2019); a member of the Scientific Council of the journals: “Review of Economic Legislation” and “Finance and Financial Law”; a member of the Editorial Board (thematic editor for Financial Market Regulation and Financial Services Customer Protection) of the journal “Internet Antitrust and Regulatory Quarterly” (iKAR); a member of the Expert Group “Financial Services User Group” at the European Commission (2019–2021); Chairperson of the Scientific Advisory Committee to the Financial Ombudsman and the Competition Chapter of the Financial Ombudsman Award for the best Doctoral, Master’s, Bachelor’s and Postgraduate theses in the field of customer protection in the financial market (2023–2026); a member of the Committee on Banking Ethics at the Polish Bank Association (2023–2026); and, finally, Chairperson of the Council of the FORKON Forum of Consumer Organisations.
