Džemal Najetović

Biography

Ph.D. – has been the dean of the University of Travnik’s Faculty of Law since 2016, the prorector for scientific research and development of UNT and a tenured/full professor for international law, diplomacy, comparative political systems, and European law subjects at the UNTFL since 2016. He has been the corresponding member of the Bosniac Academy of Arts and Sciences (BANU) since 2017, and a member of the European Academy of Science (EAN) since 2019. He attained his Ph.D. at the Faculty of Political Sciences in Sarajevo in 2006 by defending his thesis entitled: “Geopolitical Position of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Euro-Atlantic Integrations of the Western Balkans”. Prior to his work in academia, he served in the military with distinction, attaining the rank of brigadier, was in the chain of command during the war in Bosnia in the 1990s and has had numerous prominent roles in, inter alia, military training, war crime processing, and reconciliation after the war. Professor Najetović was an elected representative of the people at the municipal level. He is a member of numerous scientific and expert groups, a member of the Senate of the World Bosniac Congress, and is an editor-in-chief or on the editorial board of several scientific publications. To the time of this writing, Dean Najetović has published eight books and over a hundred scientific papers and other publications. His research interests include: political geography, geopolitics, geo-strategy, defense, international relations and organisations, international policy and security, modern political systems, state and legal development, foreign policy, diplomacy, and constitutional and European law.
