Cihan Daban

holds a bachelor’s degree in International Relations from Karadeniz Technical University in Trabzon. He completed both his master’s and doctoral research in International Relations at Selçuk University in Konya. Between 2016 and 2022, he served as the academic advisor to the Community for the Promotion and Research of African Culture. Daban’s primary field of expertise is Area Studies, with a particular focus on the African continent, on which he has conducted extensive research. His scholarly work also covers Turkish Foreign Policy, Security Studies, International Organisations, Diplomacy, Conflict Analysis, Colonialism, Border Studies, and Cybersecurity. He is the author of two books: Dekolonizasyon Süreci ve Sonrası Afrika (Açılım Publications, Istanbul) and Nijerya’da Boko Haram Çatışması: Taraflar, Talepler ve Çözüm Önerileri (Livre de Lyon, France). From 2018 to 2020, he delivered lectures on African Studies at the Ankara-based Africa Foundation, and from 2019 to 2020, he taught related subjects at the Kayseri-based Centre for Civilization, Social, and Human Sciences Research. Daban currently serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of International Relations at Mersin University.
