Bożena Gierat-Bieroń

Biography

Ph.D., is an associate professor at the Institute of European Studies, Jagiellonian University, Krakow, and Professor of Political Science. Her research focuses on the EU’s cultural policy, external cultural relations, and the processes of European integration in cultural dimensions. She has been a visiting scholar at Trinity College, Dublin (Ireland); the University of Glasgow (UK); Groningen University (Netherlands); Sassari University (Italy); Kobe University (Japan); and the University of Leuven (Belgium), and has received scholarships from the European Commission at Osaka University and Kobe University (Japan). Along with serving as coordinator of the MA Euroculture Programme – a European consortium of seven universities: Groningen; Göttingen; Marc Bloch (Strasbourg); Uppsala; Bilbao; Olomouc; and Udine – Professor Gierat-Bieroń has also authored six books and more than 40 articles, and has received awards from the Rector of Jagiellonian University and the Dean of the Faculty of International and Political Studies. Additionally, she has also worked for the National Centre of Culture, and for Collegium Civitas, both located in Warsaw, Poland, and has participated in numerous international scientific conferences and projects.
