Biljana Vankovska

Biography

Ph.D., is a retired full professor of Political Science, International Relations, and Peace Studies at the Faculty of Philosophy, Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje, North Macedonia. She is a Board Member of the Transnational Foundation for Peace and Future Research (TFF) in Lund, Sweden. Since the mid-1990s, she has contributed to the development of peace and conflict studies in the Balkans and founded the Global Changes Center, a research unit within the Faculty of Philosophy. She has held a number of prominent research and teaching positions, including Guest Senior Research Fellow at the Copenhagen Peace Research Institute (COPRI), faculty member at the European Peace University (EPU) in Stadtschlaining, Austria, and Senior Fellow at the Geneva Centre for the Democratic Control of Armed Forces (DCAF). She is also a member of the Global Governance Forum convened by Richard Falk. She has authored numerous scholarly articles and several university textbooks, including Transitional Justice (2021), Political System (2014), Institutions of the EU (2010), and International Security (2011). She served three terms as Editor-in-Chief of the scholarly journal Security Dialogues and is a member of several editorial boards, including the Journal of Balkan and Near Eastern Studies and the Journal of International Relations and Development.
